: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) :

What is GHNet?
GHNet (Georgia Hispanic Network) is a professional networking organization dedicated to promoting personal and professional opportunities for our members.

Must I have a college degree to belong to GHNet?
While most of our members and attendees do hold at least one bachelor degree and many hold postgraduate degrees, it is not absolutely necessary. However, our organization is founded on the principle that a college education is an important means of furthering one’s professional and personal development. To that extent, a desire to achieve continued education would be important. We reach out to college students in our organization for that reason.

Do I have to be Hispanic to belong to GHNet?
While our organization is predominantly Hispanic we embrace diversity and welcome all professionals who have interest in furthering their professional and personal development.

How is your organization different from other networking groups in town?
There are many fine professional organizations in town and we have alliances with many of them. We represent a very broad and diverse base since our members can and do have various different degrees (BA, BS, MA, MS, MD, MBA, JD) and represent many different professions. That diversity provides for great cross-professional networking opportunities. Besides our business development, we also have a strong cultural component in our activities.

How often do you meet?
Except for certain months of the year, we have monthly networking opportunities that may be social, cultural or professional in nature. The location will vary with each event.

What are the goals of the organization?
Our goals are to help as many professionals as we can achieve their dreams of personal and professional growth and facilitate networking opportunities for them to do so. We have a special desire in helping future generations through collegiate and pre-collegiate outreach activities.

Is GHNet a profit or non-profit organization?
GHNet is a non-profit organization whose work is accomplished through the dedication of fulltime working professionals. GHNet has a 501 (c) (6) designation and the GHNet Foundation established for community outreach to our collegiate and pre-collegiate future generations is a 501 (c) (3) organization.

What kind of job openings do you have in my field?
GHNet is not a hiring organization but a networking group. The best way to find out about potential career opportunities is to attend our events and network with our attendees. It has been proven repeatedly that networking is one of the most successful ways to find new career opportunities.

Can you post my resume on your website?
We are a networking organization not a job board.

Do I have to be a member to attend your events?
No you do not but attending just a few of the events we have during the year will be enough to offset the cost of membership.

I am a fulltime college student and not working – can I join?
We embrace our collegiate friends as our future generations of leaders. We have a reduced rate of $10 for a student annual membership which will save you that much in one visit to a networking meeting.

I am a student. Can I help in the organization?
Absolutely. We have a few volunteer internship opportunities for students that will provide you great experience and exposure to professionals that may help you in your career development while contributing to the community. Just write to us.

How much does it cost to join?
Annual membership fees are as follows:
$50.00 professional membership
$25.00 professional membership for alliance partners
$10.00 full-time student membership (does not apply to on-line college)

I’m interested in joining. What do I need to do?
Simply download the membership application found on our website and mail it in to the address listed in the application along with a check for the type of membership you are requesting. You mail also apply and pay your membership on-line. Your choice. We will confirm your membership upon receipt.

How may I help the organization grow?
We are growing immensely and we need all the dedicated assistance we can to meet the needs of our organization. You may help us at any of our events or on any of our committees (membership, social, cultural, public relations or community outreach). Since we are all busy successful professionals with limited time resources, your dedication would be greatly appreciated. Simply write to us at info@georgiahispanicnetwork.org with your interests and time availability.
